Spend your first night on the Indian Pacific enjoying a delicious dinner along with the panoramic views of the Blue Mountains as you head west through New South Wales into the outback.

Broken Hill and Adelaide

Explore the unique outback city of Broken Hill on a Whistle Stop Tour† before reboarding for the rest of your journey to Adelaide. In Adelaide there's time for another Whistle Stop Tour† before you reboard and head west.

With the option to start your holiday in Adelaide you'll board the mighty Indian Pacific at Adelaide Parklands Rail Terminal and enjoy dinner in the Restaurant Car as you pass the Southern Flinders Ranges.

DAY 3: MONDAY OR FRIDAY

The Nullarbor, Cook, Kalgoorlie

Salt lake country gives way to the desolate Nullarbor Plain as you head west, stopping at one of the world's most remote outposts, Cook. Stretch your legs, get some fresh air, and maybe even meet the locals - all seven of them! Then it's on to Kalgoorlie, site of the world's largest open-cut gold mine, where you can explore and see the rest of the city on an optional Whistle Stop Tour†.

Avon Valley, Perth

The delightful scenery of the Avon River provides the backdrop for breakfast as you approach the Western Australian capital where the afternoon is all yours to shop, explore or just relax. Your accommodation for the next 3 nights is at the Travelodge Perth Hotel.

DAY 5: WEDNESDAY OR SUNDAY

Swan River and Fremantle

Enjoy a full day discovering Perth's major tourist attractions on board 'The City Explorer Tour', a replica 1899 Perth tram. Cruise along the magnificent Swan River on your way to Fremantle. Enjoy a scenic tour of the historic port city before some free time to explore at your own pace. (B)

After boarding at Adelaide Parklands Rail Terminal, your first day on The Ghan begins with a light lunch in the Restaurant Car as you travel north towards Spencer Gulf and Port Augusta.

DAY 2: MONDAY OR THURSDAY

The Ghan, Outback and Alice Springs

Awake to wonderful views of the Central Australian desert and enjoy lunch prior to your arrival in Alice Springs, where you'll have the remainder of the day to look around. Spend the next 2 nights at the Aurora Alice Springs.

DAY 3: TUESDAY OR FRIDAY

With the whole day free, you can relax, shop or explore. (B)

DAY 4: WEDNESDAY OR SATURDAY

Uluru

Depart Alice Springs and travel through the rugged West MacDonnell Ranges on your way to Uluru. After checking in to the Desert Gardens Hotel or Sails in the Desert Hotel (upgrade), you visit the Cultural Centre and Maruku Arts and Craft Cooperative. Join a guided walk to Mutitjulu Waterhole, view cave paintings and hear the ancient legends of Kuniya Tjukurpa (Python Dreaming). Tour the base of Uluru before joining your guide on the Mala walk. Then in the afternoon you travel to Uluru to watch the sunset over this great Australian icon and enjoy a glass of wine. (B)

DAY 5: THURSDAY OR SUNDAY

Uluru and Kata Tjuta

You've seen the sunset, now you can return and see a completely new side of Uluru at sunrise. Travel to the mystical domes of Kata Tjuta. Join a guided walk into majestic Walpa Gorge and marvel at the sheer walls. Learn of the domes' formation and of the wildlife of the region. Some of these plants are so rare that they are only found among these rocky domes.

Your package concludes at Ayers Rock Resort or the airport, although if you'd like to stay and see even more, you can easily add extra nights.

Travel aboard The Overland enjoying the scenery as the train winds its way through the Adelaide Hills and across the Murray River. Travel through Victoria passing the Grampians before arriving at Melbourne's state-of-the-art Southern Cross Station. On arrival check in to the Batman's Hill on Collins, your base for the next two nights.

DAY 2: TUESDAY OR SATURDAY

Experience the beautiful sights of Melbourne this morning. Visit the Fitzroy Gardens with exclusive entry into Captain Cook's Cottage. Highlights of this tour include Parliament House, Windsor Hotel, Queen Victoria Market, MCG, Rod Laver Arena, Flinders Street Station, Young & Jackson's Hotel and St Patrick's Cathedral. Enjoy a stop at the Botanical Gardens and see the Shrine of Remembrance war memorial. Travel past Albert Park's Grand Prix circuit and over the Westgate Bridge for panoramic views of Melbourne. Arrive into Sydney Central Station this morning. Make your way to the Travelodge Sydney where you will stay for the next two nights. Discover the sights of Sydney at your leisure. Why not visit The Rocks or Darling Harbour. (B)

Join the City Hop On - Hop Off tour today. Stay onboard for a 90 minute guided tour of the city or hop on - hop off all day, it's up to you.
