New Inclusions from 1 April 2013

Great Southern Rail are introducing exciting new inclusions and experiences onboard The Ghan. We have revamped our rail offering so that your
ALL-INCLUSIVE rail journey is even more memorable. The following changes will be introduced from 1 April 2013:

• All off train tours will now be included in the Platinum and Gold Service ticket price.
• Platinum and Gold Service travel will become fully inclusive of all standard beverages, including soft drinks, beers, standard wines and spirits.
• Dining experiences will be redesigned to allow guests more freedom and flexibility for breakfasts at leisure, long lunches and intimate dinners.
• Guests travelling in Platinum and Gold Service will be welcome to check in and relax in the Outback Explorer Lounge up to 90 minutes prior to departure and also enjoy increased luggage limits.

2013 - 2014 Advance Purchase Fares^

In order to receive the Advance Purchase fare, bookings must be made a minimum of 6 months in advance of travel.

• ^Advance Purchase fares are available on Platinum and Gold Service and are subject to availability. In order to receive the Advance Purchase fare, bookings must be made a minimum of 6 months in advance. A 10% deposit will be required at the time of booking. The balance of payment will be due at 6 months prior to departure. If cancelled greater than 6 months prior to departure, no cancellation fee. If cancelled between 3 to 6 months prior to departure, 50% cancellation fee. If cancelled less than 3 months prior to departure, 100% cancellation fee. 
• To receive concessional travel fares, Great Southern Rail is required to confirm your eligibility for the concession electronically with Centrelink. If you do not want this to happen you will need to contact Centrelink or the Department of Veteran Affairs (DVA) to obtain a Pension Concession Letter as proof of your eligibility for the concession and provide this directly to Great Southern Rail before the concession can be given. Concession cards must be valid at the time of booking and the time of travel.
• Return fares are generally double the one-way fare
• *Rail Saver: Payment required at time of booking. No changes permitted. Non refundable (100% cancellation fee). Subject to availability. Bookings made through Great Southern Rail's Sales Centre will incur a $20 booking fee. Tickets are valid for 6 months from date of purchase.
• CSHC = Commonwealth Senior Health Card Holder
• Student Fares: are only available for full time students 16 years and over, who hold a current ID card from a recognised education institution.
• YHA Fares: are only available to those holding a valid membership card to YHA.
• Backpacker Fares: are only available to those holding a valid membership card from a major recognised Backpacker organisation.
