Travel from Alice Springs to Uluru by coach, taking in the rugged desert landscapes of the region as you pass through the beautiful MacDonnell Ranges. Stop at the Camel Farm with a chance to ride a camel (additional cost). View flat-topped Atila (Mt Conner) in the distance before arriving at Ayers Rock Resort rested, relaxed and ready to explore the amazing World Heritage-listed Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park.
This afternoon enjoy a leisurely drive out to Kata Tjuta for an incredible sunset experience. Admire the view of the central valley of the domes of Kata Tjuta while you take in a magnificent outback sunset with gourmet canapés and Australian wine.
Rise early and travel to the Uluru sunrise viewing area and watch the first rays of the sun set the Red Centre alight. After sunrise continue to the mystical domes of Kata Tjuta, arriving at the base of Walpa Gorge and spend some time exploring the gorge and the unusual conglomerate rock formations.
This afternoon travel around the base of Uluru in comfort as your guide informs you about the numerous sacred sites and features to be found at Uluru. Continue by coach to the Kuniya Walk and be escorted to the beautiful Mutitjulu Waterhole where you will view rock paintings and learn about the Aboriginal and European history of Uluru. Later visit the Uluru – Kata Tjuta Cultural Centre, where you can learn about Aboriginal culture and see a selection of arts and crafts.
In the late afternoon travel to the Uluru sunset viewing area. Witness the striking colour changes of Uluru at sunset while enjoying canapés and a complimentary glass of wine.
For an unforgettable experience, why not upgrade and include the BBQ dinner option. You will enjoy a variety of Australian meats and salads, accompanied by beverages of your choosing. Your guide will conduct a tour of the night sky, pointing out the visible constellations and hearing Aboriginal stories that relate to the stars.
In the early afternoon, you will travel to Kings Canyon Resort. After you arrive, there may be time to view the sun set behind Carmichaels Crag, or attend the award winning ‘Under the Desert Moon’ dinner, exclusive to Kings Canyon Resort (own expense).
This morning join a guided climb to the rim of Kings Canyon for marvellous views of Watarrka National Park. Time permitting, you may choose to descend into the green oasis of the ‘Garden of Eden’. The rim walk takes approximately 3 hours to complete and is rocky and steep in parts. Alternatively, you may wish to take an easier, shorter walk to explore the boulder strewn canyon floor.
Travel through beautiful desert landscapes on your way back to Alice Springs, arriving just as the sun sets in the west over the rugged plains.
